We have 6 lovebirds which live in an avairy on their own becasue of their viscious nature. They will attack other birds and kill other birds babies babies if mixed with other birds like budgies and cockatiels. They are in a small 6" by 3" flight with a few nestboxes for shelter. They are hardy birds and dont need an indoor part and cope the winter with just a few nestboxes. There are also many mutations of lovebirds, ours are lutinos and peach faced.

Lovebirds are part of the parrot family and can have quite a viscious bite! So if you are thinking of getting some for the house it is best to get ones that have been hand rasied as it is very hard to train a parent reared one and can take up to 2 years to teach it the step up command!

Their diet is a mix of seeds, millet, vegetables and fruit. Mine like apples especially along with their seed mix. Fresh water of course.
